Théologien catholique et spécialiste du cinéma, Alexander Bothe, chercheur associé en théologie systématique à l’université, axe son travail sur le dialogue avec la culture et le cinéma.
Depuis 2013, il occupe le poste de responsable de la pastorale des jeunes au sein de la Conférence épiscopale allemande en charge de développer la réflexion sur les liens entre la liturgie et l’éducation culturelle avec une attention particulière portée sur le cinéma, l’art, la spiritualité et les médias. Il a dirigé la gestion de grands projets pastoraux internationaux en étroite collaboration avec le Vatican. Depuis 2019, il est aussi responsable de l’image animée, du film, des jeux et de l’éthique des médias au sein de la Conférence épiscopale allemande. À ce titre, il dirige la Commission catholique du film pour l’Allemagne, s’attachant à promouvoir une approche éthique et spirituelle dans la création et la diffusion des médias visuels. Il fait partie du Conseil de SIGNIS Europe et a participé à plusieurs jurys de festivals.
As a Catholic theologian and film expert, Alexander Bothe has worked as a research associate in systematic theology at university, focusing on dialogue with culture and film.
Since 2013, he has been responsible for youth ministry at the German Bishops’ Conference. He is responsible for developing reflection on the links between liturgy and cultural education, with a particular focus on film, art, spirituality and the media. He has led the management of major international pastoral projects in close collaboration with the Vatican. Since 2019, he has also been responsible for the moving image, film, games and media ethics at the German Bishops’ Conference. In this capacity, he heads the Catholic Film Commission for Germany, working to promote an ethical and spiritual approach to the creation and distribution of visual media. He is on the board of SIGNIS Europe and has served on several festival juries.
